Two Years In Nottingham

Nottingham skyline, skyline, Nottingham

This week marked two whole years since I packed up my belongings, piled them into Ali’s car and moved to Nottingham. That means it’s also six months since Ali and I moved into our little nest!I was lucky enough to be able to Nottingham at the drop of a hat thanks to Ali’s wonderfully accommodating parents. I’ve said many times I’ll forever be grateful to them for allowing me into their home – especially for as long as it ended up being!

I’d been to the city a few times – visiting uni friends and then Ali when we were doing long distance. So I knew I liked it here. What I didn’t expect was just how much I’d fall in love with the city once I was here permanently.

It’s sure been a mixed bag. There have been nights out, tonnes of good food, cuddles, holidays, redundancies, too many hangovers and an existential crisis or two. But that’s the beauty of life. There will be ups and downs, and I can only feel lucky for the support system I’ve had around me.

Thanks to work and blogging, I’ve made some incredible friends who I’d never had met if I hadn’t moved here. The wine lunches, the gym sessions, the blog events where we eat way too much. They bring joy into my life every day.

Nottingham is constantly evolving with new bars, restaurants and shops opening every week. I’m sure with the renovations of Broadmarsh that we’re set to see the city evolve even more. And you can bet I’ll keep writing about it!

On the one hand, I can’t believe it’s been two whole years. Yet, on the other hand, I can’t believe it’s already two years. All I do know is that I’m excited to make more memories in a city I’ve fallen head over heels for!
