Paul Mitchell Haircare for Curls

Paul Mitchell Curls

When I was younger I was utterly obsessed with straightening my hair. I’d do it in the evening, go over it in the morning and then walk to school. But it didn’t end there! Did anyone else carry their straighteners with them at school so they could touch up if needed? Maybe that was just at my school!

Luckily I saw the light and embraced my natural curls years ago, so the heat damage I did has been reversed. I’m constantly browsing for the best curly hair care ranges to keep it in tip top shape with minimal heat styling (read: effort!)

Paul Mitchell is one of those brands I’ve not really thought about much in the past because it’s not stocked in my local stores. But when I think about it, I don’t think I’ve heard a bad review of their products, so I was excited to give them a go.

Firstly, I’m a big fan of the packaging. Super sleek it looks very salon professional. The product is super easy to dispense from the shampoo, conditioner in the shower. Having two slightly different shaped bottles is also very useful for someone with shocking eyesight like mine!

Paul Mitchell Spring Loaded Frizz-Fighting Shampoo*

This shampoo promised to give frizz free hair, and you can feel it smoothing your hair as you rinse it out. I have been using this every other wash so that I can alternate with a scalp treatment. My scalp just needs so much TLC! I can definitely see the difference in my curls when I’ve used this shampoo followed by the conditioner – they are more frizz free and sleek!

Paul Mitchell Spring Loaded Frizz-Fighting Conditioner*

This product claims to be de-tangling, and this is totally true for me. You can feel how sleek and untangled your hair is when rinsing out this product. Usually I will brush my hair before getting in the shower, but I was curious to see if the conditioner could tackle my unbrushed hair – and it did! As always I sped through this bottle at lightning speed compared to the shampoo, partly because of the amount of conditioner my hair requires, and partly because it’s a slightly smaller bottle.

Paul Mitchell Express Style Round Trip Liquid Curl Definer*

A single pump of this product is all you will need, so the 200ml bottle is bound to last forever. Feeling somewhere between water and oil, this clear product is run through the hair before styling to help define curls. It does indeed define my curls, but no matter how small an amount I use it seems to leave the ends of my curls quite crispy and crunchy which is a real shame!

The Verdict?

The shampoo and conditioner are a huge yes from me, and I’ll continue to use these within my routine! I really wish the curl definer had worked without the crispy finish to my curls. I love the finish on the length of my hair, but sadly it’s not a hit product.

What are your hair care holy grail products?

xx
