Nottingham Street Food Club

Nottingham Street Food Club

We all know that my life pretty much revolves around food. I love that in the centre of Nottingham there is a huge selection of different cuisines and price points so close together. Doesn’t matter if you’re after something super quick and cheap, or a fancy pants sit down meal. Nottingham has it all!

When I heard that the latest addition to the foodie scene was going to be an independent indoor street market I was super excited – especially when the location was revealed. Nottingham Street Food Club is tucked away in the clock tower in the Victoria Centre. And it’s only about 5 minutes away from my workplace!

A compact but spacious room seats 150 people and features four hot food stalls and a bar, all manned by independent traders from the local area. It’s got a brilliantly industrial vibe, with exposed concrete and wooden and metal benches. Regularly changing vendors will give the people of Nottingham a chance to sample the goods from a whole host of companies. A variety of cuisines will encourage people to eat global but dine local – a slogan emblazoned across the back wall.

It was really hard to pick what we wanted to try! Former Masterchef Pete Hewitt’s Asian style ‘Homeboys‘ is a permanent resident to Nottingham Street Food Club. The other food on offer that evening were from vegan and vegetarian company ‘Numinums‘, Suede’s ‘Death By Pizza‘ and ‘Chef Jugz‘. We opted to try the fusion style chicken tacos from Chef Jugz.

There was a good selection of drinks at the bar too! We both opted to try the Freedom Pils from Freedom Brewery. Just like the food, this beer is brewed locally. I have to say, not only did I enjoy the beer, I absolutely love the aesthetic of their branding!

The atmosphere was buzzing as tonnes of people were enjoying their Friday evening and taking in the new venue. We had a fantastic time before we had to head off to another engagement that evening. I would have loved to have been able to stay longer and try some more of the food on offer, but being not far from work I’ll be heading back regularly!
