3 Things I’m Currently Learning

Currently Learning Feb 2017

At the start of the year I wrote a post about what I want from 2017. I discussed how I want to grow and do more, including learning new things. Just over a month down the line I’ve already managed to achieve one of my main goals of securing myself a new job (which I start today!)

I’ve made sure to keep my promise to myself about learning new things, and the last six weeks have been full of learning new things!

I got a course of dancing lessons for Christmas, so every Thursday evening Ali and I have been learning the Foxtrot and Cha Cha! I’m a totally terrible dancer but it’s been such a laugh. There may have been a couple of weeny arguments when one of us has gone wrong but I’ve really enjoyed it. We also went to a Jive workshop at the weekend, which we got the hang of surprisingly quickly!

Why I didn’t learn to drive when I was younger I have no idea. I’ve finally got my bum in gear and booked driving lessons and I haven’t crashed or majorly freaked out! I got reassigned to a new instructor after a few weeks and I honestly couldn’t be happier. My new instructor is absolutely fab and makes I can’t wait until I’ve finally got my test out of the way!

Ali and I went to Paris last August and had an absolutely amazing time. I fell in love with the French language again, and after a local said he thought I spoke French because of my ‘brilliant accent’ I decided I wanted to try and teach myself the language. I did get a GCSE in French but who can remember anything they learned when they were 15?! There’s obviously loads of services out there you could use but I’ve opted for the Duolingo app. It’s free, and as it’s on my phone it’s always with me. It gives you daily reminders and only takes five minutes (unless you want to do more!). I plug my headphones in whenever I’m on the bus and get a few minutes in!

Have you been learning anything new recently?

  • This sounds so exciting! I´d love to learn French as well (mainly because I wanna go to Disneyland but feel very scared going without knowing anything in French) but my brain is not made out for learning languages. I can speak German and English really well but that´s just it. I can´t even remember a bit of the Latin I took in school (oops!).
